Benefits of Fitness Community

At the start of this year, we witnessed a spectacular thing occurring in the fitness centre. Normally at this time of year, we expect the New Year rush to come in, and we expect it to go just as fast as it came in. There are people who harbour the thought every year that, “If you are going to be gone in two weeks, then please don’t come to the gym.”
Yet, this January saw encouragement from people continually bringing people into the fitness centre. Yes, there was a challenge going on; but the challenge was a company challenge. The companies that participated themselves formed their own fitness community. Attendance in the fitness centre did not drop after two weeks.
If we took this idea of a fitness community and applied it year-round, just think how much further you can go towards your goal. Just think how much more consistent you could be. How fewer missed days you would have over the course of the year.
Fitness community comes in many forms, not just from the ones formed at your own gym. Joining a community is relatively easy and a lot of fitness communities accepts just about anybody. Most are free to join. Aside from clubs that can be formed in the gyms (as well as clubs being formed by the gyms), we have fitness communities forming on online platforms and apps (such as Strava and Peloton), on location in businesses & stores (such as the Running Room Run Club ).
One thing is for sure, a community does not have to be limited to just your local area. Some communities have reaches far beyond the initial area where it started. Even though you may never interact with someone on the other side of the world, being part of that larger community gives you the opportunity to connect with people outside of your local area. It gives you the sense that the world is not as big as it seems and that we are all connected through one common goal or activity.
